What to Expect During Teeth Extraction?

Sometimes teeth extraction is the best solution for some conditions. The situation could be any of the following:

BEFORE THE SURGERY

An individual does not even need to floss very vigorously, but merely run the floss between the teeth to the gum line. The price to pay for professional and invasive dental procedures will cost far more than buying a small amount of dental floss from the store.

#3. FLOSSING CAN HELP ENSURE HEALTHY TEETH

Plaque buildup can lead to infection in the form of cavities or gum disease. While flossing alone will not completely treat or prevent the risk of infection, it can certainly help. Uncontrolled blood sugar or frequent diabetic episodes can inhibit the white blood cells, making it difficult for them to fight infection in patients with diabetes. This can cause diabetics to suffer from a variety of infections, including gum disease. HEALTHIER TEETH AT A YOUNG AGE

Dental sealants, which are also known as 'fissure sealants' are simply a protective plastic coating applied in liquid form to the back teeth, which are the most susceptible to decay. Since it can be difficult to clean the back teeth with a toothbrush, the small grooves and fissures may need dental sealants.

The sealant bonds into the tiniest grooves in the molars. Then the sealant dries and forms a hard protective shield over the enamel of each tooth. The shield keeps food out of these grooves, thus preventing the buildup of bacteria and avoids decay. It is also easy to clean the smooth surface of dental sealants.

HOW ARE DENTAL SEALANTS APPLIED?

It only takes a few minutes for us to apply a sealant to each tooth, which is a simple and painless process. The teeth that are to be sealed are thoroughly cleaned and dried. An acid solution is then applied to the surface of each tooth to create a rough surface which helps the sealant bond to the tooth. After rinsing and re-drying the tooth, the sealant is painted onto each tooth, and an ultraviolet light used to 'cure' and harden the sealant.

HOW LONG DO SEALANTS LAST?

Dental sealants do wear down in time. The lifespan of dental sealants depends entirely on the sealant's material nad the patient's level of care, giving the sealant a five to 10-year lifespan. It is important for a professional to check the dental sealants (at least on an annual basis) for any signs of chipping or wear. If any damage is present, we will add or replace some of the sealants in order to ensure that the teeth are still being protected from decay.

Staring at the pamphlet titled “Do Not Eat” with images of hard candies, potato chips, soda, pretzels, popcorn, chewy candy and more, 10-year-old Daniel sighs in defeat. Daniel now wears braces and must say goodbye to all the food he has grown to love in the first ten years of his life. Daniel’s mother hates to see her son this way but understands the importance of braces. Eating any of the foods listed above can damage the braces and prolong the amount of time the child needs to wear braces.

OATMEAL

XYLITOL

One difficult area for both parents and children who wear braces is the inability to eat candy. Children with a sweet tooth have to hold back from eating many forms of candy for the issue of causing more harm than good to the braces. Fortunately, lollipops and other candy containing xylitol may be a solution. According to Xylitol.org, “Xylitol is a natural sweetener derived from the fibrous parts of plants,” which “does not break down like sugar and can help keep a neutral pH level in the mouth.” As long as a child with braces does not bite down on the xylitol lollipop, then a child will not harm the braces and help his or her teeth stay healthy.

These are only a few options that children with braces can eat. The most important part, regardless of what the child eats, is that the child keeps up regular dental hygiene and does not break a bracket or knock a wire loose. Juice. Fruit juice can be highly acidic. For example, Minute Maid orange juice has a pH level of 3.7. If you must have juice, grab a V8 vegetable juice instead for while it is acidic, it is much less so with a pH level of 4.29.

Soda. Do not drink soda. It is so bad for your teeth that Coca-Cola Classic has a pH level of 2.5, closer to straight acid than water.
